Natural vs. Synthetic

| Diamonds

Natural diamonds are a miracle of nature.

Formed 100 miles below the earth’s surface under rare, perfect conditions of extreme heat and pressure, natural diamonds are billions of years old. Early in the history of the world, massive volcanoes erupted from deep below the earth’s crust carrying these tiny crystals to the surface.

Synthetic diamonds are man-made under conditions that replicate the high pressure and temperature conditions found deep in the earth’s crust. In the span of weeks, factories can produce carbon crystals that appear to be diamonds, but they are not genuine natural diamonds. Tools have been developed that allow experts to identify synthetic diamonds easily.

Like snowflakes, each and every natural diamond is inimitable.

Like snowflakes, each and every natural diamond is inimitable. Among these precious natural gems are even rarer fluorescing diamonds. Less than 10% of natural diamonds significantly exhibit the phenomenon of blue fluorescence, enhancing their unique natural qualities.1

Much like there is only one “The Starry Night” painting by Vincent van Gogh, every natural diamond is an original work of art by Mother Earth. Man can replicate them, but none of these replicas is truly real. Owning a natural diamond is like owning a masterpiece of nature — there is none other like it.
